Society Of Silence, c’est le duo français de musique électronique qui monte depuis quelques mois. Depuis leur première signature sur Fragil en juillet en fait. Benoît Legrain et Nicolas Villebrun (qui fait également partie du groupe Poni Hoax) ne comptaient pas s’arrêter là, et après un EP sur leur propre label au nom éponyme, il sortent leur troisième maxi, à nouveau sur Fragil. Cette fois, il s’agit d’un 12” (pas de digital), tamponné, limité à 300 exemplaires, qui ne sera pas repressé…

Face A : Matin Noir. A l’écoute, on a l’impression d’être submergé par les bourrasques d’un vent froid, à moins que ce ne soit les jets de vapeurs recrachés par une armée de machines hydrauliques. Une ambiance lente, lourde et industrielle qui n’est pas pour nous déplaire.
On retrouve de l’autre côté le remix de Vakula. L’Ukrainien commence à avoir une discographie carrément impressionnante, pourtant démarrée il y a seulement 5 ans. Le morceau là-aussi est pesant, tout en étant majestueux. Pendant que la rythmique avec ce je-ne-sais-quoi tribal donne un air de rite initiatique, les instruments ne cessent de nous entourer de plus en plus, jusqu’à nous faire chavirer.

Une très belle release, dont les morceaux ne seront pas forcément facile à amener dans tous les sets, ce qui leur donne d’autant plus d’intérêt.

You may have recently witnessed Society Of Silence. The French electronic music duo have been going strong for the past few months now. It may have actually happened since their first release on Fragil in July 2012. Benoît Legrain and Nicolas Villebrun (who is also part of Poni Hoax) did not stop there, and after releasing an EP on their own own label, they are now releasing their third maxi, on Fragil again. This time it is a 12 inch release , stamped, limited to 300 copies, which will not be repressed and will obviously not be released digitally…

Side A : Matin Noir. When listening, we have the impression of being overwhelmed by the fury of a cold wind, unless it is the vapor jets being spat out of an army of hydraulic machines. A slow, heavy and industrial atmosphere, which is not displeasing to us.
On the other side is the Vakula remix. Although he started only 5 years ago, the Ukrainian producer has now started to build an impressive discography. Again, this is a quite heavy track, while also being majestic. As the tribal percussion moves in, providing the atmosphere of an initiation ritual, an increasing number of instruments start surrounding us, until we collapse.

A very nice release overall, and it must be underlined that, although these tracks may not be easy to play in every kind of dj sets, it gives them even more quality and interest.
